Battle of Vauchamps (1814)
The
Battle of Vauchamps
, the final major engagement of the Six Days Campaign of the Napoleonic Wars, was fought on February 14, 1814 and resulted in 18,000 French under Napoleon defeating 30,000 Prussia & Russia troops. They lost 9,000 men, including 5,000 prisoners, against 800 French casualties. The Russians were the Infantry Corps of Gen. Kapsevitch & the Prussians the Corps of Gen. Kleist. Many of them were ridden down by the French cavalry of Gen. Grouchy.
