Hedingham Histories is a collection of light-hearted children’s poems and stories inspired by historical events at Hedingham Castle, the ancestral home of the Earls of Oxford.
With a brief nod to fact, a lot of silly nonsense and wonderfully vibrant illustrations, the stories transport the modern-day reader back to life at the castle as it may (or may not!) have been during the reign of the House of Normandy.
Hedingham Castle is reputedly one of the best-preserved Norman keeps in Britain. It is situated to the north of the county of Essex, in the UK. Today, it remains a private home which is open to the public for a variety of events throughout the year.

Carol Johnson (nee Sullivan) was born in Brisbane in 1960. She is the third of four siblings raised in the sprawling suburb of Mt Gravatt, where nothing of any note ever seemed to happen. She attended Mt Gravatt State School and Mt Gravatt State High School.

Emigrating to the UK at the age of 22, Carol married and had a family - two girls and a boy - who are now grown and married. She also has two young grandchildren who she is very fortunate to be able to see often and enjoy as they grow up. Carol lives with her husband, Harvey, in the lovely north Essex market town of Halstead, where she works as a private tutor.

Words have always fascinated Carol and she began writing as a child - mostly poetry - but then life took over and her time was spent 'doing' rather than writing. She has had a busy life and turned her creative talents in many directions, from office administration, baking and upcycling furniture, as well as various handcrafts.

Carol has spent many years studying the Bible and Church history and has a degree in Practical Christian Ministry.
