A Christmas carol is a carol (a song or hymn) on the theme of Christmas, traditionally sung at Christmas itself or during the surrounding Christmas holiday season. The term noel has sometimes been used, especially for carols of French origin.

I purchased this for a research project to begin familiarizing myself with the history of carols. However one of the first things I noticed is that the book is printed without any traditional formatting—no author or title page listed, no chapter breaks, and no end notes. In fact, there are no citations throughout the entire book. From what I have skimmed, the content is interesting enough but because there are no references, I cannot be sure that any of the information is verifiable. And without any reference to the author (and a number of very stream-of-consciousness paragraphs) it’s not clear if this was written by a human at all.
