The plot, setting, and characters are very compelling but these books need the attention of a good editor and proof reader. There are many typos, bad auto-corrects, and awkward word choices. There are a few formatting errors and a couple plot inconsistencies. I also wish Japanese naming conventions had been used. I'd be extremely excited to read a more polished version but could not finish in it's current state.

Very nice! Interesting and consistent story throughout all 4 books. Surprising reveals that are teasingly mentioned in regular doses so your mind can put the story and backgrounds together piece by piece until the puzzle is complete. At times the story feels narrated a bit fast. At no point can the ending be guessed so it is exciting until the very last page. The Kitsune wife has been written last, and despite being a prequel, it should be read last as well. It shines a whole new light on the story.
