An instant New York Times bestseller! Snarky and romantic, I Hope This Doesn't Find You is Never Have I Ever meets To All the Boys I've Loved Before if Lara Jean wrote hate emails instead of love letters.

Sadie Wen is perfect on paper: school captain, valedictorian, and a "pleasure to have in class." It’s not easy, but she has a trick to keep her model-student smile plastered on her face at all times: she channels all her frustrations into her email drafts. She'd never send them of course -- she'd rather die than hurt anyone's feelings -- but it's a relief to let loose on her power-hungry English teacher or a freeloading classmate taking credit for Sadie's work.

All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at her infuriating cocaptain, Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. "You're attention starved and self-obsessed and unbearably vain . . . I really hope your comb breaks and you run out of whatever expensive hair products you've been using to make your hair appear deceptively soft . . ."

Sadie doesn't have to hold back in her emails, because nobody will ever read them . . . that is, until they're accidentally sent out.

Overnight, Sadie’s carefully crafted, conflict-free life is turned upside down. It's her worst nightmare -- now everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they're not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either. But amidst the chaos, there's one person growing to appreciate the "real" Sadie -- Julius, the only boy she's sworn to hate . . . .

ann liang’s best book to date!
i am nothing but a huge ann liang fan—i own and have read all of her books so far. we’ve had numerous interactions, and she’s such a sweetheart! but my enjoyment of this book is not from bias at all—this book is genuinely her best book, and was so incredible. it’s a step up in quality from her previous two books, which is saying a lot because both books were great, and is peak academic rivals to lovers. i cannot recommend it enough!

I couldn't put it down. It had me laughing out loud and hit all the perfect notes of banter and story development since enemies to lovers is one of my favorite tropes. One of the things that Liang does very well is her expression of the narrator's thoughts, as she does here in describing what Sadie is thinking about Julius. I loved every minute of this read and my only complaint is that I didn't want it to end.

When you removed the paper cover, did anyone else find that the hardcover title is printed (engraved) on the wrong side and upside down?

Regardless, this was such a captivating book! I couldn't put it down; the plot was interesting, the protagonists were relatable, and it was overall a fantastic novel.

I enjoyed this book overall. I was hanging onto every word at the end! I think the characters were well-represented as teenagers with the different pressures they face unique to their lives. The banter between the two leads was funny at some times and cringey in others and the slow burn was very cute, especially since Julius is so swoonworthy. In the beginning, our FL Sadie Wen is very much a doormat to everyone around her which was frustrating to read but it got better as she develops a sense of self worth and confidence through the novel.

OH MY GOSH I LOVED THIS!!!! I absolutely DEVOURED it in 2 days and couldn't stop thinking about it anytime I had to put the book down. It was fun, flirty, cute, fresh, and real. I absolutely loved the main character and the love interest. Both characters were so enjoyable, yet flawed in a perfectly human way.

I am now looking forward to reading more from this author! Her writing style was snappy, fun, and polished. Highly recommend this one if you're looking for a good high school rom com!

Why has it taken me this long to read a book by Ann Liang!?! I have been missing out because I Hope This Doesn’t Find You was so good! I loved every second I spent reading it.

Let’s start with our protagonist Sadie Wen. I saw so much of myself in her. She was super competitive and such a people pleaser. I mean she would constantly sacrifice her wants and needs in favour of someone else’s. I enjoyed seeing her growth throughout the book and how she learns to speak her mind and put herself first.

Julius Gong, the love interest, was just as amazing. It was great to see how Julius and Sadie both challenged and pushed each other to be better. And even when they started falling for each other, there is still that competitive edge to them. They still maintain that banter they had while they were still in their hate phase. It just has now become more playful. The author did such a great job with the romance and maintaining the tension and angst between Julius and Sadie.

There were so many adorable moments between them. I personally loved the blazer and race scene👀 And when Julius first confronts Sadie about the emails in the garden and he starts reciting word for word what she said…It was devastatingly good!

This was also one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. And this is all because of Sadie’s emails. They were so graphic to the point it’s hilarious. I mean the one about strangling Julius was so shocking yet so amusing. These emails would have definitely caused me to switch schools, like it even got sent to the teachers🫠The embarrassment alone would have stressed me out. My only complaint was that the ending felt very abrupt and I wish we could have gotten an epilogue.

All in all, one of the best YA books I have read in a while. I absolutely adored it and I would highly recommend it if you love romcoms. I can’t wait to go back and read the author’s previous releases now!

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written and the story flowed well. The characters once in place had rapport. The story ticked over well and the length of the story was good and didn’t seem too hurried.

THIS BOOK IS WHAT I NEEDED!!

This legit has all my favourite tropes, Academic rivals, enemies to lovers, slow burn, forced proximity!

I had heard so many good things about this book and I am so glad I did read it. Also, I listened to the audiobook as well as reading it. The narrator does such a good job!! Also appreciated the acknowledgement of country at the beginning (and that should be the standard).

If I type more, I am going to end up filling this whole thing with spoilers, but this had me feeling so many emotions.
