Sadie Wen is perfect on paper: school captain, valedictorian, and a "pleasure to have in class." It’s not easy, but she has a trick to keep her model-student smile plastered on her face at all times: she channels all her frustrations into her email drafts. She'd never send them of course -- she'd rather die than hurt anyone's feelings -- but it's a relief to let loose on her power-hungry English teacher or a freeloading classmate taking credit for Sadie's work.
All her most vehemently worded emails are directed at her infuriating cocaptain, Julius Gong, whose arrogance and competitive streak have irked Sadie since they were kids. "You're attention starved and self-obsessed and unbearably vain . . . I really hope your comb breaks and you run out of whatever expensive hair products you've been using to make your hair appear deceptively soft . . ."
Sadie doesn't have to hold back in her emails, because nobody will ever read them . . . that is, until they're accidentally sent out.
Overnight, Sadie’s carefully crafted, conflict-free life is turned upside down. It's her worst nightmare -- now everyone at school knows what she really thinks of them, and they're not afraid to tell her what they really think of her either. But amidst the chaos, there's one person growing to appreciate the "real" Sadie -- Julius, the only boy she's sworn to hate . . . .

Why has it taken me this long to read a book by Ann Liang!?! I have been missing out because I Hope This Doesn’t Find You was so good! I loved every second I spent reading it.
Let’s start with our protagonist Sadie Wen. I saw so much of myself in her. She was super competitive and such a people pleaser. I mean she would constantly sacrifice her wants and needs in favour of someone else’s. I enjoyed seeing her growth throughout the book and how she learns to speak her mind and put herself first.
Julius Gong, the love interest, was just as amazing. It was great to see how Julius and Sadie both challenged and pushed each other to be better. And even when they started falling for each other, there is still that competitive edge to them. They still maintain that banter they had while they were still in their hate phase. It just has now become more playful. The author did such a great job with the romance and maintaining the tension and angst between Julius and Sadie.
There were so many adorable moments between them. I personally loved the blazer and race scene👀 And when Julius first confronts Sadie about the emails in the garden and he starts reciting word for word what she said…It was devastatingly good!
This was also one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. And this is all because of Sadie’s emails. They were so graphic to the point it’s hilarious. I mean the one about strangling Julius was so shocking yet so amusing. These emails would have definitely caused me to switch schools, like it even got sent to the teachers🫠The embarrassment alone would have stressed me out. My only complaint was that the ending felt very abrupt and I wish we could have gotten an epilogue.
All in all, one of the best YA books I have read in a while. I absolutely adored it and I would highly recommend it if you love romcoms. I can’t wait to go back and read the author’s previous releases now!

This legit has all my favourite tropes, Academic rivals, enemies to lovers, slow burn, forced proximity!
I had heard so many good things about this book and I am so glad I did read it. Also, I listened to the audiobook as well as reading it. The narrator does such a good job!! Also appreciated the acknowledgement of country at the beginning (and that should be the standard).
If I type more, I am going to end up filling this whole thing with spoilers, but this had me feeling so many emotions.
