This is an Indian medical text book, approximately 3000 years old, translated to English about 100 years ago from the Sanskrit. As the 100 year old printing it was copied from is not exactly a 1000 DPI modern printing press, the letter quality is not up to modern standards, but it is still quite readable. It is amazing how little (and how much) has changed in 3K years.

This is a very useful translation -- I wish it were available as a print-on-demand eBook.
The scanning and OCR has resulted in a eBook that is unreadable because there is a Sanskrit quote on every page and that comes out as garbage. In-line Devanagari characters also make a mess.
(It is free, so what am I complaining about)
I have not finished reading, but the intro had an argument that was absolutely brilliant -- Sushruta apparently says that "A doctor needs to learn medicine, not anatomy; only surgeons need to learn anatomy. Knowledge of anatomy will not make the doctor a better healer."
You can quibble about having a doctor who does not know how your insides are laid out, but if I had a choice between one who does and tries to fix you one organ at a time vs.one who recommends medicines that make your slightly faulty body work effectively, I know what I would choose.

Liked the fact that it followed the text of the original as closely as possible.

In Kindle, all Sanskrit text gets changed, so you can't read it.

This copy is poorly executed. Even the cover and spine cut off the full name of the book. I expected a more thoughtful, better executed version of this special book. The images are faded, pages poorly magnified and there's a lack of reverence for the book with this execution.
