This is a great book for a beginner. It goes beyond merely learning the alphabet. The author includes 30 monoliterals, 80 biliterals, 27 trilitorals and 180 determinants.
The book also includes 343 vocabulary words including nouns, names, verbs and adjectives,
This makes for a wonderful foundation before starting to study grammar.
The glyphs are large and artistic. The author also includes a list at the end describing what each glyph represents.
This was my second book on Egyptian Hieroglyphs. I wish I had started with this one.

It’s amazing what was able to be pieced together from the Rosetta Stone: Monoliterals, Biliterals, Triliterals, Phonetic Signs, Ideograms, Determinative Signs, Cartouches, etc. And most of us still have trouble with Effect and Affect. I could wish that the material was formatted and presented differently. The editors at Dover took a lot of liberties, and in my opinion they did not improve this book. They instead made it harder to follow. For instance, they would throw a random drawing into a blank space. It did give me a general idea of things though, so my time wasn’t entirely wasted.
